Welcome to Patch Notes, the community newsletter for Mystic Spiral! Our first full month of Guild Wars 2 has been an eventful one. Not only has it been busy in game, but we’ve also had a real world meetup and endured bugs in both!
The first few weeks in Guild Wars 2 were quite shaky but the dust has started to settle in Tyria. A handful of members have managed to reach level 80, while a few others have managed to explore the entire world. Mostly though, people are enjoying playing the game in their own way, either concentrating on one character or having severe alt-itus! 2 weeks ago we started our first formal events in the game, with dungeon runs on Saturday afternoons and WvW on Wednesday evenings. It’s still really early in the game and we’ll be looking at including more types of events and rotating them soon so that everyone gets a chance to enjoy playing the parts of the game they love with lots of other guildies, no matter their schedule. If there’s something you’d think would be great as an event, or some feedback on an existing one, please do get in touch – improvements can only be made with your help.
Please be aware of how secure you are keeping your Guild Wars 2 account. Unfortunately 3 of our members have had their accounts compromised so far and while ArenaNet are doing what they can to help good account security starts with you. ArenaNet have released some information about how to be smart about making your account secure which is a must read. We’ve also been discussing account security here.
Last week we had our first guild holiday which involved 12 of us staying for up to 7 nights in a cottage in the UK’s Peak District. Between the rain showers we went to Alton Towers (a theme park), to a nearby radio telescope and to Thor’s Cave. While the rain was going on, we watched lots of movies, introducing some members to Monty Python’s Life of Brian and Star Wars. There was also a lot of board games played and drinking while Choas Kast spread his cold plague to most of the attendees (and is now known as Plaguebearer). Jo Mk 2 has shared the pictures she took and I’ll be adding more pictures to the thread soon. We haven’t arranged our next real life meetup yet, so keep an eye on the forum for details about it.
If you’re in the market for a new computer, our PC hardware Specialist noobonsteroid has been working hard to make your choices a little easier by compiling a list of recommended components for a variety of budgets.
Alongside Guild Wars 2 and DOTA 2, various members have been trying out Borderlands 2 and seem to be really enjoying it! If you’re playing and want some company why not get in contact with other members who are playing?
As always we love for our members to have a say in the future of the guild. We’re currently discussing the spoiler policy for guild chat and how to spend guild influence in Guild Wars 2, and you can contribute by posting in the relevant thread on the forum.
Onto the stats…
During September, 430 posts were made by 43 users, 2 of which were new members. We also welcomed Valknut, Timmeey, Ertzi, Frankleton and Adam Mk 2 to full membership!

Congratulations to Adam Mk 2 for making the 25500th forum post!
In October we can look forward to Pink Day in LA, the yearly fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society that includes 6 hours of in game activities. And to round off the month is Halloween. Besides our usual celebrations, it’ll be an extra special time as the Mad King will finally get a voice!
Until then, happy hunting!
