Pretty much says it on the topic, my accounts been taken for the time being for an unknown reason, be weary that it's very likely not me on the account.

Sent out a ticket to get it reinstated but for the time being try avoid it.

Nooo, I do admit not much was done security wise. I did think I had a bullet proof password, don't mean to scare anyone, but I suggest putting your best efforts into anything you can do for security, the things I neglected a little... XD

Aaaaaannnnd i'm back! Account has no damage (or has been rolled back) and I'm in full control once more!

Those curious how it went down; I have NO idea. I sent off the information, they just reset it back to my email with a new password, didn't even need to talk to me about it xD

Hey Chris, can you say what exactly did you do to get your account back so fast? I have no idea where to even start if something happens to my account. If there would be clear instructions here waiting, I could get it done immediately and not panic.

Or is it just as simple as going to the official gw2 page and sending them an email or something? I know there are instructions there, but I would still like to hear it from a person who has actually done it successfully. The official page is also somewhat confusing in my opinion to find anything fast.

Or did you just do this, which can be found under "Hacked Accounts" in the support section:


1. Click on the Ask a Question tab above.
2. Under Submit an e-mail to our support team, select Hacked Account from the Issue Type drop-down menu.
3. Enter a valid email address.
4. Enter "Hacked Account" as the subject.
5. In the Question field, let us know what has happened and provide the following:
- If your Guild Wars 2 account name has been changed, provide the account name (your secure email address) you want it changed back to.
- Your complete Guild Wars 2 Display Name (if you have it)
- Your 25-digit Guild Wars 2 Serial Code
6. Under Game Account, enter your account name.
- This is the email address that you registered the account with.
7. Select Continue...

Are you absolutely positive it wasn't a friend or sibling using your pc and then changing the pass? If they didn't even steal something or did vandalism... It's just so weird!

Yup Ertzi, that's exactly what I did, they send you another email for you to add additional information on, other than that they got back to me in about a day and a half putting my account back in my hands simple as that!

It was a bit scary because you don't know if they've even seen the ticket until it's fixed. They didn't need any additional information from me... I can't help all too much other than that, feel free to pop more questions i'll help as best I can

And I know Vic, I was incredibly surprised to see it all in tact, my theory is that the evil evil person saw my character was dirt poor and decided it wasn't work his/her time to rob me xD or as someone suggested earlier perhaps they were setting up some sort of botting program on it... I have no idea. But i'm 100% certain that it's no one on my end. I count myself incredibly lucky xD

Wow, I still can't believe that nothing was deleted or sold. I'm glad it worked that way, but it is extremely strange. By the way, it says on the GW2 official page that "keep in mind that we can't replace deleted characters or items". What the hell do I even need to get the account back for then!? Might as well make a new one, because all my shit would definitely be gone.

Well, maybe they would leave the characters at least, if they weren't total assholes and delete them out of spite, so I wouldn't have to create them again. But I would probably stop playing if that happened to me, that would be too devastating a blow. All that time and effort wiped away... Why are people such bastards? It's incredible how fast the vultures emerged as well.

I actually ended up changing my email, Blizzard and GW2 account details yesterday, as a precaution. Had a mail saying my battlenet account was locked due to "suspicious activity".
