The spoiler-embargo-question

Post » 01 Oct 2012 14:45

Last week I asked in game what people would prefer regarding our "no spoiler in guild chat"-policy.

The consensus of the players online at that time was this:
- story details should be kept out of guild chat for a significant longer period of time, up to 6 months even, since many people are not even half-way through the story-line with their first character.
- map locations, events, jumping puzzles etc. should be allowed topics after the first 6 weeks.

Since we want as many of your opinions on this as possible, I'd like you all to comment on this and provide your own viewpoints/wishes on the matter of what would still be a spoiler for you and what is alright to be talked about in guild chat, game content wise.

I'd keep personal story spoilers out of guild chat for 6 months, or even longer. Not everyone can power characters through the game with amazing speed ;) (I'm one of the slow ones).

As for other content: doesn't really bother me.

As one of the slower ones as well, it would be nice to discover the story on my own pace without too many spoilers. Personally, I don't have a problem with people discussing where to jump or how to get to some place.

I don't mind hearing about map locations, events, jumping puzzles etc. But I would prefer people would discuss the details via PM's and not in guild chat. I'm not actively looking for jumping puzzles, for example, but I do like figuring them out. :)

I also think the story spoilers should be kept out of guild chat for a good while. 6 months sounds good for story spoilers, could even be extended after that period.

I agree with what's been said before: no story spoilers in gc, the rest is ok

Pretty much what Eki said on this one. Don't mind hearing about the existence/locations of stuff but would prefer to keep the solutions to puzzles and things out of guild chat. Story wise, I'm one of those who is super slow and would prefer to keep story spoilers out for an extended period of time. 6 months sounds pretty good for the moment.

I completely agree. Its actually quite nice to hear of places you may have missed imo :)!

But storyline has taken a back seat for a lot of people so spoilers there would be upsetting!

So we've had a few days pass since the last post on this thread and since there's quite a consensus, discussion regarding maps will be allowed in guild chat from today forward. I do ask people not to share too much detail about encounters and puzzles (ie "he said this, she said that" or "jump here and then up there"), so that there is something to discover when people get there.

Story spoilers will be reviewed again in 3 months (I think 6 might be a bit too long).
